Fifty years ago, when Zomick’s was just getting started, there was basically no kosher selection. That is when a Jewish family which had migrated from Europe decided to make some changes in their community, and opened the first Zomick’s bakery back in 1966. Their only goal was to provide the local members with the desperately needed kosher food.
At the beginning, the selection was quite limited, but over time they expanded their offering and introduced a number of new, innovative products in addition to the existing authentic Jewish-style bread and sweets. Being one of the first true kosher bakeries in NYC, Zomick’s quickly rose to success and became known for its finest handcrafted creations prepared with high-quality, natural and fresh ingredients. All of their delicious kosher products are made accordingly to the kashruth Jewish dietary laws, incorporating highest standards, certified by the New York City Rabbinical Council.
Zomick’s kept all of their original recipes, and in order to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for more sophisticated products, they adapted them to the consumers’ needs. Forging strong relationships with their loyal customers, Zomick’s built its success by selling high-quality kosher products and keeping the vision of the bakery alive.
Until this day the bakery operates by clearly defined rules and with discipline that has earned the trust of its loyal customers. Among their best-sold products are the classic Zomick’s challah bread and Jewish rye bread, all kind of cakes, cookies, pita, bagels, babka, rugelach, borekas, sufganiyot and more. Packed all day long, Zomick’s has been selling out most of its items every day in New York for more than 50 years. Recently the bakery started catering for their customer’s special occasions and celebrations such as birthdays, bar-mitzvahs, weddings and other events.
