“Why Zomick’s?”

Monica, teacher

Age: 50 years

Consumer of: Zomick’s Challah Bread 100% Integral

As a mother, wife and teacher I have a pretty serious role in the lives of several people around me. My lifestyle, and this certainly includes the diet, is an example to those around me, especially smaller ones with whom I spend 8 hours a day – my students.

Of course my kids also look up to me, I’m happy they are already grown up and learned what is truly good for them, so for me it remains to convey what is best for the remaining thirty that every morning I welcomed with a twinkle in their eyes and desire to learn something new. In addition I should mention my husband who after years of stressful life in the private sector realized that only a healthy diet will maintain his health and will provide sufficient energy to pass the day.

My choice, that is our choice, is 100% Zomick’s integral bread, because of the high content of dietary fiber, a combination of whole wheat and integral rye flour. This combination is also ideal to protect women from the risk of onset of breast cancer. I read an article from Zomick’s in which it was clearly stated that women who consume large amounts of dietary fiber have a 11% lower risk of developing breast cancer, compared with those who entered less.

About Kosher Food

Zomick’s Kosher Bakery is located in Inwood, NY and has been serving fresh baked goods to its customers for more than half a century. This is their listing at Foursquare. From Zomick’s are stressing the following reasons for adhering to kosher diet:

About Zomick's Kosher Foods

Spirituality

The Torah teaches that non-kosher food has a negative impact… By eating non-kosher food, we reduce the ability of the soul to “connect with the spiritual.” This damage can be repaired when the person resumes eating kosher food.

Self Establishment

If a person can be disciplined to choose what and when to eat, he or she will also be disciplined in many other areas of life. All of this instills self-discipline, and helps us to elevate our spiritual side, so we follow our consciousness and not the animal urges.

Health Reasons

Thanks to the special control, kosher foods are considered healthier and cleaner. After slaughter it is checked whether there is inflammation in the lungs or other health problems, and the blood, which is an ideal medium for bacteria, is removed. Shellfish, mollusks, lobsters and crabs have spread typhoid and are a source of urticaria (skin disease). Milk and meat are digested in an unequal rate and thus are burdening our body. And, of course, pigs are hosts of trichinosis.

Moral Lessons

It teaches us that we should not be cruel – even to animals. It is forbidden to slaughter a mother and her cub in a same day. When slaughtering an animal, it should be done in a way that will produce the least possible pain to the animal. Likewise, the prohibition to eat vicious birds of prey teaches us that we should not be cruel.

Tradition

One of the key preconditions to be a good Jewish family is the observance of kosher food. If our home is kosher, then our commitment to Judaism and the sacrifices we endure for it become permanently imprinted in the souls of our children. And since food is often the center of social events, keeping kosher creates a natural barrier to assimilation. For many people, a bridge connecting the past and the future just with a spiritual smell of kosher cuisine.

Outside of the Jewish community, kosher food has been worldwide recognized as a healthy and with very good quality. It is consumed by members of other religions, as well as people who care about food intake or are allergic to certain foods.

What is kosher food?

Which animals are kosher? How is kosher food prepared?

Anyone who has ever been to a place with a large Jewish community has probably enjoyed a kosher hot dog, kosher falafel, or other kosher specialty. What is the history of this delicious food?

The Hebrew word “kosher” literally means “proper” or properly prepared. Food permitted by the Torah, and prepared in accordance with Jewish law is kosher.

Why keep kosher?

In today’s modern world, why should we keep kosher?

Of course, the most important answer to this question is “because God said so.” But, beyond this there are practical, observable benefits to keeping kosher today:

Spirituality is probably the biggest reason. The Torah teaches that non-kosher food has a negative impact on the Jewish soul. Eating non-kosher food blocks the connection between body and soul, and devitalizes the spiritual connection. This damage can be repaired when the person again begins to eat kosher food. By consuming kosher food we instill our self-discipline and elevate our spirituality, by making conscious choices, reveal from Zomick’s bakery.

According to Zomick’s kosher bakery also important is the health reason. Compared with the ordinary, non restrictive food, kosher is considered as being healthier and cleaner. Over the past years, the number of health-conscious customers has been steadily rising. The supermarket chains are increasing their kosher offerings to meet the growing demand, share Zomick’s.

Moral Lessons:  One of the kosher dietary most important standards is avoiding cruelty and thus the method of slaughter must be painless, and for that reason it has been widely recognized as the most humane method of slaughter possible.

Another reason is keeping the tradition, or even more keeping the family tradition that has been passed thorough years within the family. By keeping the kosher tradition they connect with their sense of identity, their history and culture. Such traditions have kept the spirit of Judaism alive, conclude from Zomick’s kosher bakery.
